MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR WOMEN VETERANS: DONATE NOW!
The Veteran Women's Enterprise Center (VWEC) is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization located in southern Dallas at the Veteran Resource Center, 4900 South Lancaster Road, Dallas, TX 75216.
On Monday, June 12, 2017, the VWEC held its Groundbreaking Ceremony and celebrated the first official Women Veteran Day in the State of Texas. Collectively, more than 300 individuals attended the full day of events beginning with the morning Groundbreaking Ceremony, the afternoon Women Veteran & Small Business Luncheon and the Women Veteran Day 2017 Celebration Reception--nearly half of those in attendance were women Veterans. Building on this support the Center launched the Summer Series of Breakfast with a Banker sponsored by Legacy Texas and Coffee & Contracts in partnership with DART.
The Center has logged more than 1000 event volunteer support hours provided predominately by women Veterans totally $24,140 and more than 3,500 administrative volunteer hours totally close to $85,000 for a total of more than $100K in volunteer support calculated based on the Independent Sectors announcement (WASHINGTON, April 20, 2017) that the current value for a volunteer hour is $24.14.(https://www.independentsector.org/news-post/value-volunteer-time/). The final renovation efforts for the VWEC are pressing forward with more than $250K in-kind support and a continual stream of in-kind contributions from local community partners and sponsors.
The Center support the enormous growth of women Veteran business owners reported by the US Census, Survey of Small Business Owners (2007-2012) noting a shift from 4.0% of Veteran-owned businesses to 15.2% standing at more than 380,000 women Veteran owned businesses. This same report noted that nearly 97% of these businesses are sole proprietors with average annual revenues below $30K. While varied support is available to promote the start of new businesses and various resources support businesses with proven growth potential, little support is available to help the vast number of community based businesses that are an essential element of our economic engine. The Center is designed to help women Veteran connect to the resources they need to succeed. In order to achieve this goal, the Center must cover its projected operating cost and we need your help.
The Center's CEO Suite of Services provides Co-working space, a quarterly schedule of Enrichment Activities and Opportunities for expansion and advancement. The Center offers a full circle of connected services that support business growth and a pipeline of opportunities for women Veterans interested in employment in the small business industry. The VWEC's national initiative needs your support to ensure adequate support for women Veterans seeking to be truly self-sufficient, contributors to their families, their communities and our nation. Give as little or as much as you want, explore options now!
