Trending Thursdays Tips - Minimizing Liability When Re-opening Your Business

As businesses across Texas prepare to re-open, entrepreneurs are concerned about risks and liabilities.  Small Business, Church, and Nonprofit law attorneys, Shinia and Ebony, will holistically explain legal techniques that could minimize liability for business owners, employers, and business partners.  The legal team will address hot topics such as signage, waivers, insurance, and much more.

MEET THE SPEAKERS:

Ebony (Jackson) Todd honorably retired from the United States Army as a Judge Advocate General Corps Officer.  She served in Okinawa, Japan as a prosecutor and Fort Campbell, Kentucky home of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) as a legal assistance attorney, administrative law attorney, and Special Victims’ Counsel.  Ebony returned to the Killeen area after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in English at Baylor University and a Juris Doctor from Texas A & M (Formerly Texas Wesleyan University) School of Law.  Ebony applies her experience advising commanders/leaders in the Army to advising small business owners of the community.  She regularly volunteers with her local church and is an active member of several organizations.  Ebony was appointed by Governor Abbott as a board member of the Texas Board of Chiropractor Examiners.  She also serves on the boards of the Killeen Community Clinic and Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce.  Since opening the law office in March 2018, Ebony has contributed her writing to a local newspaper and has been featured in a local magazine.  In February 2020, Ebony was appointed as the first African-American judge of Nolanville, TX; in her new position intends to uphold Nolanville’s ordinances and values while respecting and yielding to her morals and education.  Ebony and her husband, CPT James Todd, have two sons: James (Jet) and Michael (Major). 

Shinia S. Lambert is an Attorney and Managing Partner at Jackson Todd & Lambert, PLLC. Ms. Lambert obtained her Bachelor’s degree cum laude from Prairie View A&M University in 2004 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice. She then obtained her Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law in 2007. Ms. Lambert previously worked as an administrative law judge/hearing officer with the Texas Workforce  Commission State Office of Appeals from 2008 until 2013, overseeing hearings and issuing appellate opinions on unemployment benefits cases. Ms. Lambert most recently practiced family law from 2013 until May 2019, as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Attorney General Child Support Division. Ms. Lambert brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Jackson Todd & Lambert, PLLC with a genuine desire to see people excel in their passion and areas of giftedness.

Shinia and Ebony bonded in the 146th District Court of Bell County over an interesting discussion about church law.  The ladies combined their gifts and passions and now serve as the managing partners of Jackson Todd & Lambert, PLLC.
